Dead Space Glitch?

I'm playing dead space after I got it gifted to me oh so generously by a forum member and I'm stuck in the first level objective 4 in my journal [J]

There is a door that I cannot get through even though there are no obstructions and it  is open (because I cut it with my plasma cutter (which by the way I just got off the table in the room))
