Australian carrier network coverage differences

Hi all,

I'm in Australia, and I've been with Telstra since forever, and I was looking at a few Optus prepaid plans, and they have some really good deals. I'm tempted, but before I do anything, I was wondering if anybody has experience with both the networks and noticed any massive differences in network coverage? I'm in Sydney, if that helps. I've been super happy with Telstra's coverage and I don't want to get locked into an Optus plan only to find I can't get a good signal....

Depends on the exact area, my mums phone gets 4G coverage on Telstra, my phone only gets 3G at best with Optus. both of us have a HTC One M8 and I'm also in Sydney.
