It's easier and safer to kill tasks yourself in task manager. Many of them programs won't have any idea what something like eclipse is for instance and kill that process which could result in losing hundreds of lines of code

I am good at computer

Programs like the Razer Game Booster are alright since they kill all of the tasks and services that aren't necessary for your games. Also get rid of the programs you have turned on but you can select which ones. Those programs are quite handy if you need as much RAM as possible but usually they didn't change much for me since I have 8gb of ram and it manages to keep my games and programs I have in the background running fine.

is 16GB of RAM overkill for gaming, web browsing and occasional video editing?

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

There are lots of programs out there that claim to automatically free up RAM and speed up your PC. Do these programs actually work or are they just unnecessary gimmicks? Do you use one and if so why/why not?

100% gimmicks. All they do is automatically delete stuff in folders that windows still may need just to make it "look" like they're getting junk off your PC.

If you want to speed up your system, find guides on this forum on how to clean up your system manually.

For gaming and web browsing, Yes (at least for now, unless you host a server in games like minecraft). For video editing, No since the more the better :P

With 16GB of RAM I doubt you'll need to clear memory for a looonngggg time.

Just keep an eye on your startup programs and you shouldn't have to much to worry about.

I have 8GB right now and my memory usage is only 60% when rendering :(

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
