Onboard audio not working

I've been having issues with the audio on my Z97 Sabertooth MKII for a while. Its being recognised in device manager and shows in playback/recording devices however no matter what (re-installing drivers, re installing Windows, using Linux) I can't playback sound or record audio. 1 thing that is odd is that at all times its showing that I've got something plugged into the rear speaker and microphone jacks even when nothing is plugged in. Does anyone know what's wrong and how I can fix it?
