Thermal Throttling

When ordering something on my pc it crashed i rebooted and all of a sudden my cpu temps have jumped 20 degrees higher and are now 70 degrees idle wtf i have an x4 860k and have ordered a new cooler as the stock cooler is terrible. I can go online on my pc but applications randomly just crash is this thermal throttling and will it be fixed by my new cooler the hyper 212 evo :/

i applied thermal paste three months ago but that was some cheap brand could it have worn off and thats why my temps are so high and slow processing? 

judging by that, I'd say replace the Thermal Paste. Even if it's not the cause, better quality is never a bad thing.

when cpu is overheating it cannot function properly. did you try to mount your cpu cooler correctly? http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/500931-serious-cpu-heat-problem/page-2 also if you are going to buy thermal paste use http://www.arctic.ac/eu_en/mx-4.html it's great.

i have ordered the hyper 212 evo so I'm not going to replace the thermal paste yet, although do you think it's worth me ordering arctic instead of the cooler master thermal paste that it comes with? i would order it from amazon as they are awesome :)
