Sennheiser HD 598 Problem

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

5.1 is for ... 5.1. Like, if you have surround speakers.

The option is there because your motherboard supports ... 5.1.

I just recently bought my HD 598 and they are very comfortable. (I am a newbie) But the problem is that when I configure the headphones in the playback devices it shows Stereo, Quadraphonic, Surround, 5.1

Surround, and 5.1 Surround. I am pretty confused that there are 2 5.1 surround options to pick. Because I sometimes game and I want to hear things around me I chose to test one of the 5.1 surround option. As

i test the sound I notice that the speakers on the left and right are good, but i cannot hear any sound from the other speakers that the picture shows. This is the same as for other options except for Stereo.

Can someone please tell me why this happens? Or if it supposed to be normal?

If it is normal then why do they bother with adding 5.1 surround as one of the options.

I am very sorry if this were to be a newbie question because I am very new to this.

Okay, I think I understand now. The reason why the speakers other than left and right have no sound is because these headphones are stereo. I guess those options are there because, as you mentioned, my motherboard supports those options. Sorry for being a newb its just that this bothered me xD. Thank you for your help!
