Resolution vs other GFX settings

Hi.

I have a gaming laptop as may on the go gamer and it's GTX660M is fine but in some games it stutters in GFX intensive scenes. so I was wondering what would give me a smoother game experience, turning down the resolution  from 1080p to 1600x900 or to 720p ore turn down other GFX settings.

 

If any one wonders i have a Clevo W370ET last gen (w/ ivy bridge).

personally i turn down aa and shadowing before anything else.. its a matter of preference what you want to sacrifice to make it smoother i never sacrifice resolution though, ever.

I agree with this, aa is always the first thing I turn down. Next is shadows, and some lighting effects. Textures I usually keep maxed or high unless the game still runs under 45 fps, then I'll start messing with that

Never run an LCD monitor at anything other than it's native resolution unless you like ugly graphics. The 660M is pretty weak but should run any game on Low/Med settings @ 1080P.

Yep, in the CRT days we could play with resolution but not anymore- it will look a blurry mess if you leave the native res.
