Well I know this isn't the usual questions, but I need some help/Ideas for my setup rather then just mine...

1. How can I make the desk not slip on the draws and stay put (Has to be removable, as currently in a rental)

2. How should I manage the cords in my setup (Was thinking of taping the surge board to the bottom of the desk with double sided tape)

3. Where can I put my PS4 to save room (Thinking of putting it in a draw and drilling a hole at back of desk for the cables?)

4. Should I buy a 2nd monitor (might be crammed)?

The setup isn't complete, waiting on a mouse bungee & headphone stand. Going for a nice spacey setup and not crammed for those that can't tell ;)

Okay, so among my friends I am considered some what of a cable management freak, so I'll give you some sage advice:

  • For the drawers, get some sticky backed Velcro, you can put it on the underside of the desk and the top of the drawers, and it'll hold it in place. Will come off easily with a bit of scraping, and to remove sticky residue you can use the same cleaning supplies (alcohol) that you use to remove thermal paste/grease
  • As for cable management:
    • Get cable ties, lots and lots of cable ties (I recommend getting lots of short ones and lots of long ones for different sizes of things you need to tie)
    • Get something like this to put your power strip in and to keep the spare cable length
    • To run cables along your desk or along the underside get something like this
    • For anchoring chargers get something like this, as you can remove the cable easily then slot it back in
    • For running cables up to your desk from the floor neatly, get tubing. I like this tubing as it's easy to get cables out of quickly
    • Also, a USB hub can be helpful, as you can have 1 cable running to your PC, and have all of your peripherals plugged into this, inside the power strip box.

PS I wasn't paid for any of these recommendations, and there are many products that do the same, probably for less.

Thanks for the help will use some of these for sure. Would you suggest using the box hiding thing or just mounting the surge board to bottom of desk?

for the love of god dont put a ps4 in a drawer.  if anything, just pop it underneath your monitor

also, mounting  a surge protector is just useful no matter what

What's wrong with putting a PS4 in a desk...? Under the monitor looks really ugly.

Depends. If you have lots of spare cable (like a 2m HDMI cable that only needs to be 1m, or a mouse with a 2m cable for some reason) then the box can be really good to neatly store the excess in loops. If not, then you could do fine by bundling it under your desk. BTW the loop things (third bullet point) don't have the greatest adhesive on them, so I'd recommend screwing them down like I have once you're sure of the layout. Obviously don't do this if you have a really nice or expensive desk, I just have an ikea one so it's fine to drill into.
