Another headphone damage question... sorry

I got my mod mic today to pair with my HD 598s and I plugged them into and adapter that puts both of the jacks into one cable. I heard some crackling and distortion so I ended up plugging them into their two respective ports for headphones and mic. I do not have my e10k dac yet that I ordered so this is all onboard sound plugged directly in the front panel ports. If there is a degrade in quality to the headphones or damage how noticeable is it? In case you didn't realize I'm pretty OCD in this new audio stuff to me.

Is your front panel audio a combo jack? You can't combine audio and microphone if you don't have a 4-pole jack.

and hey, i noticed my headphones are magnetic on the sides and the mod mic it magnetic as well. Magnets won't warp the drivers or anything I hope?
