Question do I want to turn hyperthreading off when I do my oc? I know how to overclock on the i5 4690k but not sure if hyperthreading changes anything? Also why does my setting change when I turn dynamic clock on or fixed clock? Like with dynamic on each core sits at I think 800hz with it off it goes back to what it should be with the multiplier. Like x44 it's at 4400.

If you were going to turn HT off, why even get the 4790k in the first place?

Also, dynamic clock and fixed clock does exactly as the name implies: the first allows clocks to fluctuate if full speeds aren't needed, where as the second applies a constant value all times.

Wasn't sure if hyperthreading effected oc as its simulating more cores instead of having actual real cores.

Wasn't sure if hyperthreading effected oc as its simulating more cores instead of having actual real cores.

But it does affect it. If you are benefiting from it, it'll stress your cores harder, as well as making your CPU run hotter, which can cause an otherwise "almost unstable, but still stable" OC to fail.

Although the point still stands, it's a waste of money to get an i7 and turn HT off. Leave it on and deal with it.
