Hi again, been tweaking my GTX 980 Ti and wondering... it's not able to go up or down, or am I not applying enough voltage for it to stay? hmm see this..

I have managed to OC my card from 1300 to 1500 Mega Hertz, and 4000MHz Memory speed. Totals in 8MHz.

Unigine Valley gave me a score of 4100 on Extreme HD preset (the highest) and total of FPS of 100fps..

Short:

MSI:

+150MHz

+500MHz

Voltage: 15%

Temp never went above 70-72C.

when I try to bump my core clock to 180 or 200MHz the drivers will stop working. tried to crank up the voltage but didn't work, kept crashing.

Now my question is, is this the OC limit of my card? I know people could do more, or less? not sure if this is good enough.

Would like to hear some opinions too. Firestrike gave me a score of 14670 instead of 13500 before. Saw people reach 15,000 .. prob cuz of their CPU.. Graphics score is around 20,000+ .. don't remember the exact number.

Can I make it higher? make it lower? and yes for 3 days I have experimented the OC, tried different clocks at different scenarios .. so far 150+ on core clock, and 500+ on memory gave me a 30 minutes of Unigine Valley peace and quiet no crash. I think.. :P

P.S.

yep 1500mhz is good. @StareX keep testing with games as they can crash/artifact when heaven, valley and firestrike wont.

most people say you can go to 1.3 volts and its fine for the gpu but you will ned a custom bios for this

Well right now 3D Mark just froze my PC on the Primary Tests section .. On the ships thingy, .. Ima test it again tho see if it's the memory clock..

Maybe it was my CPU dunno..

So 150 is unstable? Ran Bf4 with it and everything.. M8 I want that number :/

Like.. I ran Valley for 30 minutes and then Firestrike and no crashes. The only thing I changed was voltage and added 50 to the memory clock as it was 450.

what core clock are you getting under load? you can check with afterburner

yea, but I want to bump it or not worth it? Or how do I stable it..

So far it didn't crash for now. I'll update if it does after the changes I made

to get it stable you could flash a bios and remove the voltage limit and add more. you lose warranty to get about 1 more fps

Oh no thanks. Lol.

Tho so far the tests haven't crashed. I think it only crashes when I apply voltage, why?

weird. maybe because when you add voltage it gets higher clock?

Nope :/?..

Apparently it crashed again aka. Froze the screen again. Hmm.. This is exhausting

(Running the Skydiver test, froze in Combined Tests).

So no, it's not the voltage. Tho how much do I apply to get it stable?

P.S. I'll run 100 instead of 150, lets see if it does something

Yeah.. God dammit 100 is stable as hell.. 150 is stable but only after certain time.
How much voltage to apply to that?

ughh, nope.. Nor 140, 150, or 130 passes all the tests. Only 100. (Freezes in the end or middle close to end)

Edit: okay so apparently applying over 65 milo volts to the card adds MHz to the Core clock, hence why it might've crashed. Now I am trying 133MHz+.. Making it run at 1,500MHz locked, not moving with a 4000MHz on the memory clock.

Final Edit: kk Stable at 130MHz Core clock, 500MHz Memory clock and 65+ mV on the core voltage :D

14240 Total Score on Firestrike. 20638 Graphics Score :D

Okay bump. I reverted everything back to normal, and today tried overclocking again. Saw gains in Valley and was happy, now Im running a 30 minutes run on Valley to make sure it's stable.

uhmm tho, Coil whine is kinda stronger with this one, and ticking sounds aswell? Okay, not constantly but whenever a scene ends or begins, sometimes it doesn't do it, there's a "tick" sound coming from my card.. and the coil whine starts rolling. (nothing I can do about it yea I know) .. tho.. tick sound? Wowow... wait, is this ok?

And btw, whenever I fire up Valley, the voltage goes to 1.230V, and Core clock to 1513MHz, but after 2 scenes it goes down to 1.205V and then to 1504MHz, is this good too? (+40 mV)
