Cpu for gaming

Go to solution Solved by Gidoguy,

my i5-2500k lately working not very good, soo i will buy a new system... so take i5-6500 or pay more and take i5-6600? ... not K... just for games

If you go skylake, then you'll have to buy new ram as well as a new motherboard as Skylake are only compatible with DDR4 ram

so, i will take for 250$  Cpu and 200$ other thing

If you have $450 to spend, its not worth upgrading to skylake. a decent motherboard will run you minimum $130. an I5 6600k (Which is the least you'd be expecting to upgrade to to see a decent performance boost) will cost $300+ and 16GB of DDR4 ram will be minimum $90. so you'd be wanting to spend at least $550 to get a good boost in performance.

I still don't understand why you have a 980 ti?

i don't need boost, just it must work and be not worst than 2500k

Whats the point in upgrading then? if you're going to spend money on "upgrading", you might as well increase your system performance whilst you're at it. It's a waste of $450 if you're just going to get the same amount of performance.

Logics is simple:" I don't want spend money on system, which will  have workloud lest than 50% and which i will use for one task"

Fps will be more than 60, so money will work for me

That's not logical though, it's exactly the opposite of logical. you're spending $450+ to get no performance increase. It's like literally replacing an iPad mini 2 with a mini 3, you literally get no improved specs, you'd only be getting it because it has a new name.

His money, his choice.

Also I would go for skylake 6500 with fast ddr4. You will still see improved performance (unless you had a golden 2500k) and the ram speed helps.

Main rig: Shockwave - MSI Z170 Gaming 7 MOBO, i7-6700k, 16GB DDR4 3000 MHz RAM, KFA2 GTX 980ti HOF, Corsair RM1000 PSU, Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD, WD 7200RPM 3TB, Corsair Air 540 White, ASUS P278Q 1440p 144Hz display.

Laptop: Lenovo Y510p, i7-4700HQ, 12 GB (8+4) 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, GT755 2GB SLI graphis card, 1366x768 display.
