Fairly average as far as tech knowledge. I just bought a Asus Rog gl551jw with 8 gigs of ram and a core i7 4th gen processor. I'm trying to be able to run Street Fighter V with little to no frame drops. Is overclocking an option for me or does anyone have any uggestions to get the extra out of it I need?

Might wanna overclock your GPU first, MSI Afterburner is great for this. You can also OC your processor as well, but you won't get nearly as much from OC that over the GPU. Do both! Wait... That's a laptop. Never mind the CPU OC, it's pointless and will throttle. Try OC your GPU and see if it doesn't throttle if your really wan to.

You gotta do you girl. I always say you gotta do you. And if he's doing him, then who's doing you? Because right now, it seems like no one's doing you.

Thanks to everyone who replied. Is MSI afterburner easy to use? Is that the only software I would need? Graphics card is a gtx 960m 2gb

Yes afterburner works on anything running Windows, and technically it has everything you need including temperature sensors, but I prefer dedicated software for that.  I'm not sure on the current state of laptop overclocking after that Nvidia fiasco with no overclocking on mobile chips, but I'm pretty sure that's done and over with right now.

I mean as far as cooling the thing doesnt make a sound. Even under load the fans are pretty much silent and the laptop has no notable signs of getting hotter besides the side exhaust
