Closed back Headphones

Go to solution Solved by Hans Christian | Teri,

In skype calls people could hear what game I was playing or music I was listening to. Although, If I got a headset without a mic it wouldn't matter. Any suggestions?

That's probably either due to the rubbish nature of Turtlebeach headsets or a software problem. :) The DT880's mentioned above would not be a bad idea, but I'd also take a look at say the HD598 by Sennheiser (Comes in both an incredibly ugly white chocolate concoction and a much prettier black on black version) You should definitely be able to run the HD598's off of your motherboard. The DT880's are a little more power hungry however most people seem to run them fine as well. I've been gaming with open headphones for many years now (mainly the Sennheiser HD650's) and I believe you will be off great with either of the above mentioned.

Hey guys, So It's time to upgrade my audio setup, I currently and have only used turtlebeach x12s. I would like some feedback on which headphones to get. They will be used for gaming, Mainly csgo.

These are the headphones I'm looking at. Any other suggestions would be great.

Beyerdynamic DT770 - I don't know what the difference between the ohms are, So i put it at 80.

the ohms are the resistance of your headset. HIgher ohms usually means higher impedence, so better sound reproduction. Be wary though that headphones going higher than 80 ohms will need extra power, and batteries on these dont usually last so long. Other than that these are all good options, but i would reccomend going for one that doesn't have the mic attached to it, so you can use it as normal headphones wherever you like.

What you're saying is not entirely correct. Not only is what's listed as ohms the impedance of the headset, not the resistance (although they are arguably similar things), higher impedance does not necessarily improve sound quality, nor does it necessarily make the headphones harder to drive. The first is certainly not a rule of thumb that you can go by. The last is often the case but it's not a given.

As for OP; Why are you only considering closed back headphones? You open yourself up to a lot more options (often considerably better options as well) if you're looking at open headphones too.
