Compare the specs of the Cube to a GoPro and what comes with a GoPro inside the box.  Check online reviews about each camera.  There's a reason why a GoPro is one of the top sports/action cameras on the market along with a Contour and Sony.  But as a cheap alternative, the Chinese GoPro knock off like the Xiaomi seems to be a better choice.

The Polaroid Cube seems like a really good, cheap alternative to the GoPro. What do you think?

Nope if you want a cheaper go pro, either look at the go pro Hero, the Sony Action cam - or even cheaper, the Xiaomi Yi which has a decent Sony sensor inside, and is pretty much on par with a hero 3 for image quality
