Can I Setup RAID without formatting both drives.

Software RAID1 is entirely possible to sort out without losing data. If it's HW that you want, it'll depend on your hardware.

Why not just back up your data? RAID1 won't save you from deletions, viruses, hacks, and so on anyway. A third drive for manual backup would and it costs you like, $50 or so.
