Dead USB ports?

Go to solution Solved by Tedster,

I haven't ried safe mode, i'll do thatt now.

If that helps then you might want to see whether uninstalling any antivirus/firewall software you recently put there solves the problem, because that's what helped this person:

However I have a strong feeling that that 'firewall software' was just malware.

I've just plugged my laptop into the printer via USB, all USB ports aren't functioning anymore?

Sorry for bad description, laptop keyboard is badly damaged.

You will probably want to try the printer with a different machine or at least different cable first...or test the laptop with any USB keys you have lying around or something.

It's possible for the USB controller on the laptop to die. What particular model is it?

Sig under construction.

That's kinda going into things I'm not too sure about. But it looks like the USB controller is at least showing up and doesn't report any problems.

So, if you were to plug a device in would it show up in device manager at all?

Sig under construction.

Nope, no response from the peripheals or computer

It happened straight after plugging it in, literally keyboard works, take out keyboard, connect printer, keyboard and all ports dead. Couldn't boot into safe move, seems there are lots of underlying issues, I appreciate your help, but I'll just have to wait until I build the new computer.

Although I did recently uninstall Bit defender, but that shouldn't make a difference.
