Change DPI through windows?

You cant increase the DPI of your mouse, the only way to do that is by overclocking it  the only way to do that is by buying a new mouse, but you can change the sensitivity of the mouse

If you overclock your mouse you can only change its polling rate

Ok so i have a standard HP mouse and i think the dpi or something is just to slow so i want to know if theres a way for me to increase it. So im using a Lenovo thinkpad X131e we got from our school and its a 768p screen and its windows 8.1 . Thanks

i know you could change it in windows xp, but i think they actually removed the feature in 7 (i could be wrong) but it would be in the control panel.
