So I recently upgraded my pc to a second hand 4770k, new (guy bought the wrong one and sold it to me) Gigabyte h97 gaming 3 and brand new 2x4gb G Skill Ripjaws X ram.

Problem is that if i try running both sticks of ram in any slot, it will just cause a boot loop; but if i run just any one stick at a time it'll run fine.

I took the ram back today and they tested it in their rig with a Gigabyte z97 gaming 3, booted fine.

So i'm now at a standstill and unsure what to do next, I just updated the motherboard BIOS to the latest available too.

Also I have no spare hardware that I can chuck in to find out what the problem is, I've had a quick look on google and it seems to be a bent pin but I want to know what you guys think before i rip off the CPU cooler.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks in advance

If you have the option to get a high refresh rate monitor, do it.

What speed is the RAM?

It's 1600mhz at 1.5v, timing is cl9-9-9-24

OK check for bent pins then but probably carefully remove the cpu cooler instead of ripping it off :P

I think I found the culprit, but I'm unsure/not keen on attempting to fix it

Tried to upload pic but too big, there was one bent on the top left and about 4 in the bottom right... How common is that?
