You gotta figure out how to put Windows OS installation on USB and then you boot into it and you put in your key when it asks.

You buy a key, and then you go microsoft's website to get a media creation tool. You get a empty DVD or a USB, run the media creation tool, and it'll create a bootable DVD/USB. You plug that in your new computer, and run the setup. Then you type in the product key.

Any questions?

For windows 10:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO

For windows 8.1:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

For windows 7:

.... why are you buying windows 7.

You can create a bootable flash drive with Windows on it. Within the bios, you can set the computer to boot off the flash drive and install Windows. Windows will then ask for your key and you just have to enter the key.

you can get the iso's here:

Yes, use the media creation tool on an old windows computer(not sure if it works on mac os linux)

Product key you'll have to buy somewhere else, wether its the microsft store, newegg, amazon, or some other retailer.

Key format shouldnt have changed, it should still be a long set of letters and numbers.

ISO image is for the DVD. I recommend using a USB(since its faster), but if you're using a disc, you would select the ISO option.
