Hey guys,

My radeon 7770 just took a crap and I buried it out back. I need some help choosing my new GPU, and probably PSU as I'm rocking the 460w dell one.

Right now I have the dell xps 8500- i7 3770, 12gb ddr3, and did have a 7770 in it. My only concern is that the case I have right now isn't the best, but I don't want to spend money on a new one. I measured the current Power supply, and it is 5.5" long, 3.5" tall, and 6" deep. The new PSU pretty much has to be as big or smaller than the current one as dell randomly has a whole bunch of USB's on top of the computer, and if it's longer than 5.5", it will run into them,

In order for the GPU to go in cleanly, it needs to be smaller than 9.5". I can finesse a little; I have a secondary computer with a 9800gtx which is almost 12" long and is a real pain to get in and out.

I have $500 saved up in my dick around funds, but I wouldn't want to spend more than $400 unless it is something outrageously good. I was looking at the gtx 960 with maybe a 550w power supply, but I don't know. And apparently, the dell xps motherboard doesn't play nice with all GPU's without the latest BIOS.

Thank you guys!

I would look at a r9 380 I TX from sapphire, and a smaller seasonic power supply. Both of them will run you $250-275. I'll update with links in a minute.

Hi, there's some Mini ITX GPUs out there

Gigabyte Mini GTX 970

Asus Mini GTX 970

Sapphire R9 380 Mini

The insane thing about it is, you can still SLI and Crossfire those

There could be others :)

A 500W PSU  would do just fine. Not sure if your 460W can push it though.

You can bark like a dog, but that won't make you a dog.

You can act like someone you're not, but that won't change who you are.

Finished Crysis without a discrete GPU,15 FPS average, and a lot of heart

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."
