Max temp on cpu?

I have a AMD X4 860k and I have been trying to find the max safe temp for it with no luck. It runs a bit hot and I want to make sure that I'm not pushing it to far. Idle temps are in the thirties but when playing games it is in the low to mid fifties. Any idea on the max safe temp?

Those temps are very safe. Only get worried if it gets above 80 degrees

What do you use to monitor your temps?

General rule of thumb is that ~100c is absolute max [most of the time referred to as the TJ Max], in fact basically all (2000 onwards) CPU's will shut them selves down if they reach their max temp.

Make sure you check temps on the cpu not the ones on the motherboard underneath the cpu, since the temps could vary a lot!

 

btw, the 2012 macbook air 13" had a absolute max temp at 107c so I think you're safe!
