Drum Pads

I was curious if anyone one on this forum was into performing and recording music. I am looking to get a drum pad (like the roland spd-30 or alesis performance pad) and was wondering if anyone here has one or has some suggestions on which one is better for the money. Thanks

It depends on what program you are going to use, if you are going to use Ableton Live8 I would suggest the novation launchpad. Other than that I'm not really too sure.

What's it going to be used for? Are we talking an actual drum pad or a Midi pad for DJing or production?

Actual drum pad, It's just for some simple beats, mostly for entertainment purposes. I'm also space confined, so can;t get an electronic drum kit

I'd go the Alesis then. They're not top of the line but can get the job done. If you're looking for a more serious option, then the Roland is the way to go. However that's just my opinion, you may want to go over to somewhere like a drum forum or DJF to get more opinions.

I would highly recommend anything from Roland or Yamaha. They are industry leaders for electronic percussion. If you're really on a budget Alesis' gear will work just as well. I have no experience with the drum pads though only e-kits. One more thing to consider, have you thought about a traditional drum machine?

I don't want a traditional drum machine because i want to use the sticks and make my own beats that way, I find it more enjoyable
