GPU heat sink loose

Go to solution Solved by KieranFretwell,

All in the signature. But EVGA SC ACX cooler. GTX 970

I have the same thing on my ACX 780 ti

Just took apart my GPU to put some new paste on it because of heat issues and now the heat sink that is attached to the plastic fan covers is moving. I didn't notice it before and my other GPU doesn't move. All of the screws seem fine. Is this okay? If youd like to see what I'm talking about just either call me on Google hangout or skype me. Skype is laxplayer551 would be greatly appreciated if I could get some help. Thanks.

Did you tighten the screws evenly?

Tighten one a bit, then the other, then the other. Then tighten it a bit more and go around, if that makes sense?

Yeah. Have to multipost since I'm on mobile. I didn't even take that part off. I just took off the cooler to put new paste on. I was wondering if I broke something.

Either you put too much thermal paste or you did not tighten the screws enough.

Either way, you voided your warranty.

My warranty is fine lmao. I've already called EVGA about me painting them and they are still covered in warranty.

Not on EVGA gpus, unless they actually broke something.

You removed the cooler from the PCB

That automatically voids your warranty, kind sir.

Like everyone else said. Not for EVGA. I even called them.
