Hi i'm looking to upgrade my system to an 8 core amd fx-8350 with an ASRock 990FX Extreme9. I'm stuck between these two ram kits:

I'm not sure whether the tighter timing or faster speed is better for an amd system.

My rig: Cpu: AMD 8350 | Cooler: Corsair h100i with Noctua nf-f12 fans | Ram: 8gb 1600 corsair vengeance | Hard Drive: 2x 1tb wd drives in raid 1 | SSd: 128gb plextor m5p  | Motherboard: asrock extreme9  | Graphics card: amd 7850 2gb | Power Supply: ocz modular | Case: cooler master cm 690 ii          Peripherals: | Monitor: x-star 1440p | Mic: blue snowball  | Keyboard: Flashget G600  | Mouse: No name |

I Personally am an AMD Guru of sorts,, What do you plan on doing with Said Rig?

As far as Memory goes,, yes thare is a difference refering to "Speed" vs. "Timings",, will you see it in everyday usage of your PC?

On an AMD Platform,, Unless you plan to Transcode,Encode and Edit content,, No.

I went from 1600Mhz @ 9-9-9-24 to 1866Mhz @ 9-10-9-27 and as a Gamer and Web Surfer, i saw NO increase or Decrease in performence.

As an After thought,, the Faster the Memory,, the less of a Bottleneck it is. Timings Matter only on the Milisecond level.

I don't think it makes alot of difference wether it's and AMD or Intel processor (unless we are talking about APU's, which we are not).

I always do a little math with the speed and timings to see whats "best".

CAS/Speed = overall performance? (lower = better)

8/1600 = 0,005

10/2133 = 0,0046

The 2133 are slightly better, but honestly, you won't feel the difference. Unless you wan't the "pride" of having 2133mhz RAM, going with the cheaper ones is better.

Do you think the higher speed will be better for overclocking my cpu?

Honestly, I don't believe it will make any difference for you. Only a very small difference. It's completely up to you regarding what you want. Remember that RAM speeds only makes a big difference for IGP's. Not discrete GPU's. Try taking a look at this post:

people who say it doesn't make a difference lack experience with AMD Modular CPUs, higher frequencies are a lot more important than timings for a bulldozer/piledriver CPU and will allow you to achieve higher clocks when overclocking .
