hd 7970 dun work

so i recently just got done replacing stuff for the vram and i checked to see if the 7970 actually worked. The fan was spinning and my computer was fine but no output. I was using dvi until i had to go hdmi which still didnt work. I also have a 6 pin power connecter connected to a 6-8 pin connecter which one of the pins on the 8 pin was missing. Whats wrong? D:: HALP
