External HDD won't safely remove.

Hi there,

 

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but i'll see what happens. So whenever I try to safely remove my external HDD via the taskbar i get the error message that the HDD is still in use and that i should close any programs that are connected to it. But i closed everything so it doesn't make sense. I can't remove it from explorer aswell, whenever i rightclick on the HDD in explorer, the "safely remove" option doesn't show. I did have some errors lately, a couple days in a row and i don't know what caused it, so maybe that's the problem? Any Ideas what might cause this and what i can do about it? Using windows 10 btw
