I have an i73820 and want to get a new mobo. Do I have to buy a specific Chipset or can I just go with any 2011 mobo?

All 2011 mobos are same chips and and

doesn't make much difference to search much unless you are looking for anything specific.

Technically it needs to be a specific chipset. But there really is only one choice.

It has to be a X79 chipset and it has to be LGA2011 socket. It cannot be X99 chipset (not available for LGA2011) and it cannot be LGA2011-3 (not available for X79)

 

There are also server motherboards with dual LGA2011 sockets and chipsets like C602. They won't support your CPU. Just stick with the X79 (which I  know to be hard to find these days)
