So the other day I asked which computer was better out of http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-i7559-763BLK-Full-HD-GeForce/dp/B015PYYDMQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1445610421&sr=1-1 vs http://www.costco.com/Dell-Inspiron-17-5000-Series-Laptop-%7c-Intel-Core-i7-%7c-HD%2b-1600x900-%7c-4GB-Graphics-%7c-Windows-7-Professional.product.100227371.html Everyone said the first one from Amazon was MUCH better then the one from Cosco. Now another friend's dad is saying that the Cosco one is better because the two GPUs are equal (wut) and because the Cosco one has an i7.

Here are his arguments:

The Amazon one has less RAM so the computer will have to use the drive to compensate and that will slow it down although it won't be by much since the computer has an SSD
The i7 on the Cosco computer is much better because most games only use one core and since the i7 has a bigger clock speed it will have better performance
The R5 M335 and GTX 960m are equal in performance

None of those arguments make very much sense to me. Especially the one about the M35 vs 960m.

What are your thoughts on this? Also, I'm about 96.969% sure that finding a game that only uses one core is pretty rare. That's true, right?

EDIT: Ok so the Cosco link will not work when I paste it here for some reason so here are two screenshots of the page

Second link is broken.

Edit: It seems you left a period at the end of the link.

Moved to Mobile Devices.

The first one is better due to the quad core i5 vs the dual core with HT i7, 1080p display vs 900p, 256GB ssd vs 1TB hdd, and generally better size imo 15.6" vs 17".

Amazon:

Pros: SSD storage, much more powerful GPU, more screen resolution

Cons: Lower storage capacity, less RAM, less powerful CPU

Costco:

Pros: Larger storage capacity, more powerful CPU, more RAM

Cons: Much slower storage, very weak GPU, lower screen resolution

This is sort of like trying to compare pineapples and tangerines:

The first PC from amazon has an SSD, meaning you will get MUCH faster boot times and responsiveness.

This PC also has better discrete graphics than the costco PC.

The amazon PC also has a 1920x1080p display.

However on the other side of things:

The costco PC has lower specs in everything EXCEPT it has a core i7.

In other words each PC excels in different areas, but the amazon PC excels in more places then the costco PC does.

And more RAM for the Costco one.

kk thx for helping me be 100% sure Amazon laptop is better. But just wondering, most games DO use more then one core, right? So far the only one I have heard of only using one core is Dead Space 2 lol

The 6300HQ is more powerful than the 6500U.

Yes, most games nowadays do use multiple threads when available.

The i7 is a dual core though
