So i recently got a new router because my internet has been pretty bad, it is the ASUS RT-N66U. About a week after getting this router my ping in online games became unplayable on wifi. I have tried Ethernet and it works fine but Ethernet is not practical for me since my house isn't wired for it. I am using the onboard wifi on my ASUS z87 pro board. I dont understand because when i run a speedtest it says my ping is only 20 ish but in games it is flat out unplayable on wifi. I dont know if this has to do with my ISP i have Comcast i know they have a data cap (which really sucks since its 300 gb a month) but could they be limiting my bandwidth?

Thanks

Do a continuous ping test to your router and see if anything looks fishy there.

Probably a bad band or antenna on the router.  Also, how far are you from the server or whatever?  The further you are the higher the ping.

I am directly above the router on the second floor. I have no idea how far i am from the server.

Something is really causing the WiFi congestion.  Get an Android phone if you have one, and install WiFi Analyzer.  Take a screenshot of the 2.4GHz WiFi channels signal spread.

See if your cellphone, or another wifi capable device is having the same issue.  Try factory resetting the router, turning if off for 90 seconds, and try different firmware versions.

No its just my pc which makes me think that its my wireless card, i am using the one built in with my motherboard.
