I've been planning my new build for christmas with my brother for a while now (whenever I think of something for it I go to him for validation).  He recently told me that I should just get a new hard drive completely, something faster, or just a new one. and as I have a seagate barracuda which is 7200 RPM the only things I could think of that would be faster would be an ssd, a wd black would be a little better, or an sshd.

I wish wd made 1tb sshds because I really don't need 4 f****ing terabytes of storage for now. So seagate is the only option .-. (if you cant tell i'm quite the wd fanboy :3)

So I face a conundrum, just get a regular hard drive or get an sshd, I have a couple questions.

  • How much performance would I actually get from an sshd. *boot times, gaming, and general browsing performance.*
  • As games are gaining in size, and everything else is generally gaining in size, should I go for the 2tb version or should I just stick with the 1tb (my 1tb has like 670gbs free and I dont really use ccleaner or anything) Is the price to performance worth it?
  • Is it worth it to pay the extra bit to get that sshd drive or should I just go and save a couple bucks getting a regular ol' WD Black 1tb drive?

Thanks

A) what's your budget?

B) better off going SSD for OS and HDD for mass storage
