Hi am I looking at a build with a i7-4790k and I am looking at a motherboard with the z97 chipset and I am wondering if this can enable overclocking? Also can the H81 chipset overclock.

These are the two boards:

Z97: http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Z97I-AC-LGA1150-Motherboard/dp/B00K8KM9CO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1447002394&sr=8-2&keywords=lga+1150+mini+itx+motherboard

H81: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-GA-H81N-LGA1150-Mini-ITX-Motherboard/dp/B00H7OHW8A/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1447002394&sr=8-5&keywords=lga+1150+mini+itx+motherboard

Thanks :D

Z boards are the only board witch can oc on intel. Expect you can overclock the pentium G3258 on other chipsets.

in most cases, the h81 boards cannot overclock, however some can. that being said, i wouldn't go with h81, i'd go with b85 instead as it has more features (most cannot overclock, although some can with custom bios)

yes, that z97 board you mentioned will overclock

Only the Z97 can overclock K series CPUs. Some h81 motherboards can overclock the G3258 though, so be wary if you see "overclocking enabled" on h81 motherboards because they refer to this specific CPU.

Overclocking in an ITX rig can lead to some heat problems. The motherboard in your link will be fine so long as you don't want the absolute best and you have a good cooler. There are 6 phase ITX Z97 motherboards, but they're significantly more expensive and probably not worth it in your case.

Okay great thanks, what do you think about the Z97 board for a mini-itx bulild

Only Z-series boards can overclock. H81 cannot overclock a 4790k.

I like the all-black. Would like to see your other part choices too. ITX builds fascinate me, just seeing how much of a beast you can fit in a tiny box.

Hey this is what I am planning and thats for the input everyone! :D

It's a nice build, I like the black and white you're going for. Something I just mentioned on another ITX build post though, try and get a modular PSU.

Okay thank you, I realize you have a i5-4690k and wondered if you could tell me what you do like game, stream, edit and render 3d graphics (this is what I'm going to be doing) and how good it is at this. Thanks again mate :)

I do gaming and some light editing but no streaming or 3d graphics. It's been a great CPU for me, the heat spreader which is improved from much of the rest of the Haswell line allowing a generally good overclock. If you "win the silicon lottery" (get a good overclocking CPU) consider getting a liquid AIO cooler to get the most out of those 4 cores. Streaming, editing and rendering is always better with a hyperthreaded i7, but I realize the price is unreasonable for many builds. Gaming is absolutely no problem for it.

EDIT: Consider getting more RAM too. There's some great deals on 16 GB of black Hyper X right now (the same RAM I just got)
