Hello, fellow redditors lel copy and pasted off reddit posted, this build is for my sister. I would prefer this to be a hackintosh due to the fact she is a **NOOB** when it comes to anything but OSX. Will this build be able to work with OSX?

**What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.**

Build for my sister mostly just using pages, keynote, browsing, etc...

**If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, FPS, game settings)**

Just a regular 1080p monitor and able to do the things listed above.

**What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?**

Around 400 including OS.

**In what country are you purchasing your parts?**

United States of Merica

Unless they've changed things for the worse that's not true.  I was able to do it on an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (with some difficulty) way back, so if anything I would bet it's easier now.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If other people online have reported it working on your CPU, then it works :)  Just look around

motherboard should work tho. really looking forward to that apu tho

OSX doesn't like APU's.  It will require a lot of work to get it working.

do i go with graphics card or trust an i3

I'm almost 99% sure that by APU he was referring to the 6400K you had in your original build. Anyways, you're on a $400 budget, just stick with the integrated graphics on the i3. The guide on Tony max x86 (that somebody else posted) doesn't list a dedicated graphics card. If Tony Max x86 doesn't list it as a necessity, then you're good to go. They know what they're talking about.

I take it a Mac mini is out of the question then? You can get a pretty good one for around $400. I mean, not a brand new one, but still a pretty good one. Honestly I've had quite a few hackintosh PCs and every time I've just wiped and sold them because me $700 Mac mini runs significantly better, even though it's underspeced compared. It's also a hell of a lot less effort to set up.

no

Honestly for your budget just stick with an i3. The guide posted above has everything you need, including specifics.

thx
