My last post I was going with a amd build and it seemed universal that I should switch to the i5 series.

I'm going to college soon and will be studying IT systems and perhaps CAD modeling. So, I need a new PC to replace my 2008 Toshiba Satellite. My budget is 500 USD, but I'll go up to 550 usd.

G.Skill Ripjaws X 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 $74.89

Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA III 6.0Gbps Hard Drive $39.98

two things:

1: if thats a kingston ssdnow V300: get something else, samsung 840evo perhaps?

2: that gpu is a joke, and this comes from someone who used to run a GT640.

EDIT: what the quack is that power supply? x.x

What GPU under $100 USD would you all recommend then? The power supply saved money, because I think the i3 would be a great loss of performance for $60. Also the Samsung Evo runs about $80 which is substantially more than I am will to afford. This is a budget build to get me through my bachelors degree, I'll build a performance machine later.

And dont worry about the Kingston v300. Surely it dont have the same speed as other SSD that cost 2,3 times higher than it, but it will perform perfectly fine. I own one and I run my Windows on it, and there's no problem so far (about 2-3 years already). The boot time is about 10 seconds (roughly, I dont time it but it's fast enough that I dont notice it anymore) on Windows 10

Ok, the amd build will be cheaper obviously, but if you want to stick with Intel, then go for Asus B85 board instead of gigabyte, and get atleast Gtx 750Ti is pretty cheap now and leave the Seagate, they are really crap go for W.D
