So I'm looking for a graphics card, mid to low range.

I narrowed it down to 4 options:

-xfx AMD Radeon R9 270x Double Dissipation 2GB

-MSI Radeon R9 380 Gaming 2G 2GB

-Gigabyte GeForce GTX960 G1 Gaming 4GB

-Asus GeForce Strix GTX960 2GB (the overclocking one)

I need help. I've read some people say to "Avoid the gtx960's like the plauge".

Power consumpiton isn't really a problem.

I'll be running:

i5 4460

MSI z97 Gaming 3

8GB of Hyper X fury DDR3

CX750W modular PSU corsair

Monitor haven't desided yet, but resolution is 1920x1080 (max 24")

I love reading your opinions, as long as they are justified (don't just turn one down, please explain, I'm new in the PC master race...)

Also, if you guys (and gals) can think of a different card, let me know. However, I'm on a slighlty tight budget (I live in Greece, and the prices are a bit higher here), so I can't go any higher than the prices of the 4 listed.

Thanks!!

R9 380 by a long way. Also change that PSU, it is terrible.

What is wrong with the PSU?

Do you think it's worth the little extra money to go with a gigabyte r9 380 Gaming 4GB or no?

Cause the fps are almost the same with the 2GB card?

that is a tier 3 unit, it is higher quality than the cx series. but you can still get a higher quality unit. like the straight power 10 if you want bequiet, or evga b2, seasonic m12ii 750.

yes i think the 4gb card is worth it, more vram helps with future proofing and msaa or other settings which use lots of vram.

There are always better stuff to buy. And I know that. I just don't have enough money to get them. I don't care at all about which company makes the product, if it is of good enough quality and is better than other company's products for the same price range (give or take 10-20 euros/dollars) then I'm going with that product.

If you know that the PSU is crap, and maybe catch on fire one day because the chinese capacitors might explode one day, then sure I'll go with something else.

I don't know anything about PSUs. I know how what the watts mean, how to pick a PSU size, to give me the ability to expand in the future, and that efficiency is a good thing, cause I have to pay my bills.

So, can you recomend any PSUs for a little bit more money, that would be better than the Corsair CX750? I don't care if it is semi or fully.

i edited that post check it. out http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html here is a good place to start, look at tier 1 or 2 psu. and then look at reviews and price from there

for your rig 450watts would be more then enough.

I know that, I am planning though on adding some time in the future, a second graphics card, and some other stuff, so I want to futureproof my PSU.

Get the best gpu you can affort NOW and don't plan on gettin a second one later. There is no sence of crossfireing 2 370s or sli-ing 2 750ti's (is that even possible? ^^) since one better card will a: draw less power, b: mostly cost less and c: won't lead to problems like microstuttering and stuff like that.

So if you want to get a better grafics performence get something like a r9 380.

edit: sorry i just mixxed up the topics. forget about the 370 and 750ti.

but what i said about one powerfull card over 2 lesser ones still is a fact. so maybe a r9 390 would be appropriate.

I'm already pushing the limits of my budget here.I can't afford and I don't need a better CPU. If I remember correctly, you can crossfire/SLI two cards, as long as they are both 960s or 970s.

You can get 4GB 380s now for like $200. If I was looking to buy a card in that price range I'd probably go for that.

The 960 is really not as bad as people make it out to be, it's just slightly outclassed by the 380 and is more expensive. If for whatever reason you want to avoid AMD like the plague, I wouldn't feel bad about it.

Also I wouldn't concern yourself with SLI or Crossfire right now. Not with Mid-range cards, anyway. It's just not worth it.
