So i have a msi gtx 980 right so does there happen to be any cpu with a socket of 942 that will not bottleneck it i really don't want to have to go through the complication of getting a new mobo.

What mobo?

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

The thing is I wouldn't recommend getting a FX 9*** CPU if you don't have a mobo already that will work with it.

Also not every AM3+ motherboards work with FX 9*** CPUs and and they might catch fire if they are not compatible!

The motherboard tends to be very very important when talking about 942 socket boards. The 990FX chipset can handle the 9590, but something like the 970 chipset would fry. If you have like a 990FX chipset board, go with the 9590 hands down. Make sure you have proper cooling, and a powerful PSU.

P.S.

AMD sells the 9590 with the watercooler included in most cases.

I would probably assume my mobo isnt very good so if i need to get a new one it would be a hassle because i have been upgrading a prebuilt system so this is what someone recommended before would this work

asrock atx pro3 llga1150 with a i5 4690k
