Fingerprint sensor relevance in 2015/2016?

FunkyFeatures

So, moving on from my LG Optimus G and seing loads of new flagships from all sorts of brands, I was wondering. With Android 6.0 Marshmallow, would the Fingerprint sensor become more relevant as more and more programs take use of it? Currently I've got the Moto X Style as my favorite, but it does not have a fingerprint sensor. How much of a drawback would it be for "futureproof" phones? Would it be worth it to wait till the 2016 Moto X release (I can totally wait a year, but the sooner the better it is for me to get a new phone, as the LG is showing signs of aging).

RAM: HyperX Fury 1600MHZ CL10 2x4GB      Storage: Samsung 850 EVO(250GB) + WD Red(2TB)      PSU: Corsair RM750 (and no, it hasn't blown up!)

Marshmallow doesn't change anything, it just unifies the API so all manufacturers can use the same one instead of building their own code into their ROM.

QUOTE ME IN A REPLY SO I CAN SEE THE NOTIFICATION!

When there is no danger of failure there is no pleasure in success.

Fingerprint sensor is more of a convenience that's incredibly helpful and useful.
