I have been planning and looking up better and value to money build with futur proofing in mind. At first i was looking at the i54690k But now i want to move to i56600k for that futur proofing idea but i cant really decide. This build is mostly for gaming but from time to time will do some video editing and such. My budget is 2kcad inc. monitor.

Here is the skylake build: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/WVKG8d

This is my firs time building a pc. i got to this point bc of my another threads that i posted which gave the idea of a skylake system.

So you think i should go with the skylake path?

I don't see anything wrong with skylake.  If you don't care about switching motherboards later, I would also suggest the Xeon E3-1231 V3 and an H97 mobo.

looks good, but if you're into more competitive games, you have the driving force to get a 144hz monitor for around the same price

i honestly think that spending more for a monitor with more Hz is unnecessary. 60hz is fine 1080P or higher is fine. Anything lower is bad anything higher and you will might end up spend too much money. Just because you can spend money dont mean you should spend it all on this to get a vary slight advantage. Yes a 144hz monitor is better but only a bit. rather save and stick to something closer the 60hz or hell get 2 MONITORS! much better.

If you played csgo you would understand the importance of a 144hz panel

what mobo do recommend? If you have by anychance that will support skylake. oh so i can oc the i5 with that cooler then, thanks! Hahaha it was really hard to decide between 970 and 390 but for money and more ram, i went for 390, even tho the ram isnt much of a factor for noe in gaming.

If you're not a serious content creator, it's not really worth getting an ips monitor unless you find a good deal. For your purposes, I'd suggest picking up any well reviewed 144hz monitor for now, and maybe adding a second panel in the future when you have more money. Lower end ips monitors also arent that great of an upgrade from a good tn one.
