So this will sound incredibly stupid (and I'm incredibly tired, why I'm not waiting to ask this is beyond me) but does this mobo only have one pwm connector? http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-motherboard-151hee999kr
I only ask this because I plan on doing a dual water cooling look and I want to control the gpu and cpu fans separately. For the most part I'm pretty well rounded in what to do but I have absolutely no idea how to wrap my mind around pwm fans for some god awful reason. I know I need a fan hub, but if there is only one connector on the mobo, how would I even control the fan speeds.

See, my issue with x99 is that all the selection of motherboards just fucking suck. By that I mean they're all red black white blue etc. nothing is all black excluding this. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-x99asliplus Should I just buy this and not worry about painting the "e" on the evga one and not worry about fan headers?

or should I buy this http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-x99deluxeu31 and paint the heat sinks (I only threw in asus because they have a good bios, but thats why I'm here asking for thoughts)

its kind of funny, with the pc I'm making I keep jumping between what motherboard I'll use and its preventing me from actually making this...which begs the question if I should just wait for broadwell-e if that comes out spring next year (or just tough it out for a little longer and get skylake-e but I don't think thats coming until 2017)
I don't know guys, I'm incredibly torn right now

also I should mention that I'm only really considering the evga board because it is eatx and I'm buying this case: http://www.caselabs-store.com/magnum-th10a/ my thought process was to fill empty space

Where did you hear that that had one PWM header? It has 7 fan headers, three 4-pin PWM and four 3-pin DC.

it was more of looking at the picture and only seeing one fan header with 4 pins

like I said, incredibly tired

It's ok :)

By the way, that MSI is very good as well, one of the best cheap X99 boards out there. Both are great boards though.

Honestly, I'd wait to see if it comes out in the spring 3:

might be the best course of action at this point.

well, I'm getting a 5960x, budget isn't the biggest concern haha I'm mainly considering it because its black....people need to make more black motherboards. Do you think I should save the money and just get msi so I don't even have to worry about painting it.

Sure, why not. The MSI is a great board, and they don't affect performance at all, just features (which the MSI already has tonnes of)

Or wait for a new architecture, whichever.

The eVGA Classified x99 only has 2 true PWM fan headers, the others are DC.

Don't worry mate I had the same problem, nearly every board only has 2 true PWM fan headers.

The only boards that are all true PWM are the higher end Asus boards and the MSI GODLIKE.

I settled on a MSI x99a Gaming 7, which still only had 2 true PWM fan headers, but that was enough when using 2 PWM fan hubs.

ok thank you

how would I know which header is a true pwm fan header?

They are generally the CPU headers.

What I did is any motherboard I was interested in I went to the manufactures page and downloaded the users manual, they outline which fan headers are PWM and which are DC.

Usually outlined like this (I added the red text so you can see the difference):
