I fell asleep with my laptop on my bed the last week of school last year (2012) and managed to kick it off my bed just right to where the power plug got shoved inside and my USB drive with YEARS of important docs and things broke off, leaving the memory smashed and the head still in the laptop. I woke up confused like no other to the loud crash and noticed that my power cable fell out, so I put it back in, deeper than usual, and it fell out. I did that about 5 times till I got pissed and turned the lights on, only to discover the destruction I had caused with a small kick. I was utterly broken inside at that moment and I panicked. I looked at the power port of the laptop, and it had been shoved inside, DEEP inside, like crushed against the battery inside.

I took it to my computer class the next day and we surveyed the damage, and came to the conclusion that no soldering could fix a broken PCB, so I sent in a warranty claim hoping that I could get a new desktop from the store I got it from with a Trinity A-10. They requested I send in my laptop, and I did. After two weeks of no contact, I got a knock on my door, and it was my damn laptop. They fixed it. And put in a new HDD, with my old one floating around in the obx willy-nilly. After lots of testing, I concluded that my old drive still worked fine.

At the end of it all, I got a free 320GB HDD out of it that I now use for Ubuntu. It's not a desktop, but at least's it's something.
