Could be from a miss-matched aspect ratio. If your display is 16:9 but the game is 4:3, that'll happen. Same for a 21:9 monitor and a 16:9 game.

My rig: Intel Core i7-8700K OC 4.8 | NZXT Kraken X62 | ASUS Z370-F | 16 GB Trident Z RGB 3000 (2x8) | EVGA 1070 SC | EVGA SuperNova NEX650G1 | NZXT H700 | Samsung 250GB 850-EVO | 2x 2TB Seagate Barracuda HDDs

Well since its not happening when you watch video, Im gonna assume its a GPU problem. Have you tried unplugging your GPU and plugging it back in? I did that once when my "monitor" starting acting up and it fixed the problem.

Seems like a GPU/game/driver issue. Seeing as it's only in games I don't think it's related to the monitor or cable itself. Check that the game(s) and driver(s) are all up to date.

Latest beta driver installed, maybe try and reinstall?

But why doesn't it happen on videos then?

I'm guessing some of the higher addresses on your VRAM are about to die (which explains why it only happens in games)... but this is just a guess...

Try doing a fresh install of the drivers and see if that fixes it...

Else, watch for thermal issues... clean out the GPU heatsink if it's dirty... (I won't recommend replacing the thermal paste on the GPU yet since I'm not sure if it has thermal pads for the VRAM modules...)

Use a more aggresive fan curve (via MSI Afterburner)...

If it's not due to thermals then, it might be the card on its way to silicon heaven...

GPU is usually not used in video encoding and displaying process.

That sounds like a good idea. Just post on the forum if you have any questions.

So, weird thing is, it's very present in menus etc. but not in the game?!

Getting more fps at menu than ingame? I think that's the reason. (Similar to the "coil whine from high fps" issue *Though I'm not entirely sure!*)
