I see people on youtube with like an H80i and getting stabe overclocks around 4.7 or 4.8 with a delided CPU and Voltages from 1.275 to 1.4? I would consider using the vice method from doing a little research. I have an h100i and really want a crazy overclock and after seeing the same results with the identical hardware I have, I am eager to try.

Thoughts????

Don't do it unless you are comfortable killing the chip and paying for a new one out of pocket.

I just did my 4770k with a razor, I wouldn't be confident sticking my cpu into a vice and bashing it with a mallet. I'm going to be running directly on the die but still have to wait to finish off my build before I can boot it up and see if it was worth it.

If your happy with the risk associated though, the temp drops will be significant. It was easy enough to do with a razor :D

I would be so nervous if I was you....

I have done one before so I wasn't too bad about it. Taking the IHS off with a razor is simple enough. Just the process of putting a waterblock straight onto the die had me sweating bullets :P

Yeah, I could imagine.... ^.^

Didn't you use EK precision mount kit too?

Well I mean I'm running my CPU @stock and I am getting really good temps no higher than 65C (Intel Burn Test) with an h100i so I know I can overclock. Before I was running 4.5Ghz @1.275 and couldn't really seem to exceed that. I'm just wondering is 1.275 a little bit much for 4.5? or is that fairly normal? I saw this kid on youtube overclock to 4.8!!! with a delided 4770K with same cooler as me running at 1.4V which is insane.

Haswell is very erratic with the volts it needs for OC's, SIlicone lottery is a bigger factor than it was with previous architectures so it won't be uncommon to see 1.4v needed for a 4.8Ghz clock speed. Some people may not even hit 4.8

But the point is that he delided in order to get the temps manageable, I'd say an overclock above 4.6 is impossible without a delid on haswell or else your temps would be insane, unless you won the "silicon lottery" and could run say something like 4.5 @1.21V. Meh I'm probably going to pass on a delid this time around but if I ever build another computer I would do it.

But for normal use is 1.275 high for a 4.5OC?
