How do you tell if a MSI Twin Frozer 7950 is a 7950 or 7970 PCB (V1 or V2)

Jordan

best way to tell if its a V1 or V2 is the power connectors. the V1 has 2 6 pin power connectors and the V2 has a 8 Pin and a 6 Pin.

biased on what ive seen on youtube videos i noticed that every V1 the box says 10C cooler and 13.7DB. I also noticed that the S/N is 912-V276-XXX

The V2 box says 17C cooler and 6DB Quieter and the S/N is 912-V277-XXX

If anyone has this card and can post there serial number and what the box says would be much appreciated.

What difference does the PCB make ? is one version voltage locked and the other isn't ? Does one version overclock better ?

V2 overclocks much better.

also the V2 allows for 7970 waterblocks witch are much easier to come across.

Why does it overclock better ? more power delivery via the 8-pin ?
