Most of such keys are Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) keys. If you don't believe me, you can buy one yourself, call up Microsoft and they can easily check for you. Based on my phone call with the MSDN guys:

 

  1. MSDN keys are valid for as long as the owner of the MSDN account continues their subscription.
  2. You're not supposed to sell or give it away. Basically you can't use it for any other purpose except to develop software internally.
  3. Microsoft shuts MSDN members down regularly. Sure, some people get away with it, but do you want to throw away cash on an off-chance that you get away with it?

I really wanna trust that Windows Reddit thread as I don't want to spend so much on an OS. I just havn't done enough research/asking around to trust it yet

Are you talking about the reddit thread or Kinguin Windows 10 keys?
