The Optiplex GX270s were known for being released during the capacitor plague so I feel that is what you might be experiencing with the blue screens and just unstable operation in general, you might have mentioned this in the video but I have not watch the entire thing yet :)

Core 4 Quad Not Extreme, only available on LGA 557 at your local Circuit City

I was not aware of that. I have never worked on Dell computers before. So it may be a capacitor issue?

That is my guess based off the problems you are having with it, everything from the Optiplex GX280 up came after the capacitor plague so only real cause of capacitor failure in those system is due to heat were in the GX270 the mix of bad capacitors and heat caused them to die like flies.
