Posted October 15, 2015 Is it normal for a dual fan type of cooler like the 980ti evga acx 2.0 to give hotter temps to the cpu compared to the evga 670 ftw blower style type of fan? My cpu temps have jumped up from around 62c max in gaming to 76c with the only difference being the graphics card. I notice the graphics card running hot to the touch too. in game temps show 83c at 70% fan speed. Not sure if I need to re apply thermal paste to the cpu or not. I never like going over 60, but here I am at 76.cpu is a 6700k @ stock temps with 1.2v. D15s noctua cooler. The case is a phanteks enthoo evolv matx. Posted October 15, 2015 You're right about the GPU it's running too hot My gtx970 runs at about 67 degrees C while overclocked and under load so you might want to look into that mine runs 65ish non OC"d because MY CARD IS BAD. and I'm only running it in an s340 with like no airflow... & just saw that post edit that beefy air cooler might do it, a long with that case. Don't get me started on the airflow... Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/467535-new-graphics-card-hot-cpu-temps/#findComment-6272552 Share on other sites
 Posted October 16, 2015 Well you moved from blower to internal. So instead of being actively exhausted, hot air stays inside case. Add one intake fan for CPU cooler if you are worried (which you shouldn't). ^^^^ That's my post ^^^^ <-- This is me --- That's your scrollbar --> vvvv Who's there? vvvv Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/467535-new-graphics-card-hot-cpu-temps/#findComment-6280110 Share on other sites
 Posted October 16, 2015 Tis normal and expected (esp with the blower>open air cooler transition) I dropped 8-10*c on my CPU when gaming heavily for extended periods,......moving from my absurdly hot 85-88*c Windforce cooled 290x to this 60-70*c Windforce cooled GTX970. Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/467535-new-graphics-card-hot-cpu-temps/#findComment-6280319 Share on other sites
