Apache is my personal goto, but unless your only goal is to serve static webpages you will need something more.

There are three real choices on Linux: Apache, nginx, or Apache+nginx... Sure others like Lighttpd exist but lets be honest it's generally going to be Apache, nginx, or a combination of both. You do not need something more than Apache to host dynamic sites, Apache works just fine; However, if you're using php for example you do need to install php alongside Apache. 

 

As of Feb 2015 Apache has ~40% market share of web servers on the internet (50% if you look at only the 1,000,000 busiest sites,) IIS has ~28%, and nginx has ~15%. (Source: Netcraft) Apache is just fine.

Just install LAMP and your good to go.

I am not sure I understand your definition of a "dynamic site" but apache will not be able to serve dynamic content on its own. You would need something to do the server-side page generation.

@Dkozak Which RPi version are we talking about?
