Specs:

Intel Core i5-3570K - Overclocked to 4.6ghz and Stable

Corsair H100i

Asus P8Z77-V LX Motherboard

Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB)

Sapphire 7970 3GB OC Edition

Asus Xonar DGX

Corsair AX750

Microsoft Windows 8 Professional

I recently upgraded from the Intel stock cooler as I wanted to overclock. So i installed the H100i fine and it worked. So i was able to get it stable and cool at 4.6Ghz. Then as i like to keep things up to date I updated the firmware on the H100i and it said installed correctly with no issues. And it seemed to be true. Then I rebooted. The fans didn't spin and the LEDs in the CPU block didn't light up. As I noticed it immediately i turned the system off, i was scared i might fry the CPU. I moved the cooler fans to the motherboard as i thought spinning is better than not. And the system is currently stable at 4.6ghz with the fans plugged into the motherboard and being controlled with AI suite from Asus. This means the pump runs fine as the CPU hasn't died and it can run games and benchmarks fine. So then i open corsair link to check if i could change the LED lights to on as they needed to be reactivated or something. The cooler wasn't recognized at all. I have tried plugging the USB into different headers on the motherboard with the PC both on and Off. Still nothing. Tried using a normal usb cable and plugging it into a external USB port and still nothing. I even tried plugging it into a different PC running Corsair Link to try and see if it can be recognized by anything, and both PCs I tried didn't recognize it. And one was again on Windows 8 and one was on Windows 7. So i don't think it's a Windows 8 Issue.

Any other info needed ask, and I'll do my best to provide what I can. :)

The big problem i can see is your are using AI suite and Corsair link..These programs are well known to hate each other and don't work well together..I get random temp warnings that my motherboard is running at negative 212c lol..

And never upgrade firmware on a H100i if its working good..They even say that on the Corsair forums..

It has worked previously with AI Suite installed, which is why i thought that wasn't the issue.

Many are complaining that firmware upgrade screwed their H100i. Time for RMA maybe? I use a H100i but I don't see a reason to upgrade firmware. It's cooler! LOL! That's like saying my TV is quad core!

I'm trying to do everything except RMA. But I am slowly coming to accept the reality that I might. Do you have any other ideas I could try before I go through the bother of doing RMA.

Where did you download the firmware update from, some of the older versions have been known to brick the H100i and you only should have downloaded the latest one directly from Corsair.

I downloaded it from the corsair website, so it is directly from them and it was a newer version than the one I was running.

I had seen multiple people online say done update the firmware unless there is a problem, I would suggest using a stock cooler and keeping the h100i plugged in and doing a firmware downgrade.

What seemed to fix it for me was uninstalling Link entirely, installing a different version (which was a newer beta version for me) and then installing the version you want over the top of that.

I have absolutely no idea how that could've solved anything but it did so you should give it a try.
