Well, recently there are some customers have me to build thier render machine , then i realize i know very little about this aspect , can you guys show me some brand that quite good at making server motherboard like intel or something, because as my knowlegde so far, to make a good rendering machine we need CPU power and special GPU like Quadro as well as stable component which made me think about server stuff like ECC ram ..etc.... , I have found that 1366 xeon series have some point at good budget and still provide enough calculate power so i ask about them (or i think so :'( )

So....my question is :
- Which brand make good server motherboard and name me some product as example, especialy i want to know about 1366 socket.
- And where i could find a good place that provide 2nd server motherboard ? (i need this so much)

- does SuperMicro good ?

SuperMicro is a very good brand for server boards, but I am not sure if they still have boards for LGA1366 since that is a very old socket by now. Anything that is on that socket is quite outdated and doesn't perform as good as something newer, that is not a Xeon processor like the 5820K or the 5960X.

If your clients need a rendering machine on a budget, I would assume as they are looking at 1366, it would be way better to just get an X99 workstation board and a 5820K or a 5960X depending on what they are willing to spend. Both Asus and ASRock have great workstation boards for X99 that are not crazy expensive as proper server boards and are also easier to find at a local retailer. These boards also have full support for ECC RAM and Quadro and FirePro graphics.

well rendering machines are very different from server machines. rendering machines are all about hardware capabilities cpu, gpu, ram. server machines are all about redundancy ecc ram, xeon, raid.

for a rendering machine that is "fairly budget" you can go with x99 core i7 part. those are 6-core or 8-core parts which are unlocked. the cheapest one is the i7-5820k which goes along with ddr4 ram. for mobo you could theoretical go with every x99 board you wish but most people go with asus boards because they have the best quality. there is better stuff for overclocking but the asus x99-a is a good basic mobo.

for gpu it highly depends. if your using something like sony vegas or adobe you can use gpu acceleration. a 980 or 980ti would be fine.

if you wanna step up your game you can go up to 14core xeon and a quadro m6000 there are a lot of options
