Only if ALL the drivers of you components are out / compatible, and even if they are, do a backup / ghost before the upgrade

Preform a backup of your old drive, go for the free upgrade, use magicaljellybean to find your windows 10 key, format, and install windows 10 fresh. Mine works flawlessly.

im going to get all my private data off and do a fresh install.

Why are you scared it's only an OS and not Ebola. That said not much difference performance wise, and upgrading is easy.

i was ''scared'' just because i didnt know if i would understand the os or if it was WAY different then 8.1

If you preform the 8.1 to 10 upgrade, your key changes. So gran the new key using magicaljellybean, and then that key can be used to reinstall windows 10 without preforming an upgrade. by doing this, you shouldnt run into driver conflicts that come with an upgrade

it's not that different, just the start menu a tiny bit, most stuff is in the same spot, so no big learning curve like 8 vs 7
